About event
The new Czech TV series Filter had its world premiere at this year's Karlovy Vary festival in the Special Presentation section. That in itself is a great success. The series of six half-hour episodes was filmed by director David Semler, who is also the author of the screenplay.
Matty (Antonio Šoposki) is an introverted boy who, despite his indecisive and hesitant nature, managed to come out. He is surrounded by family (Martha Issová, Simona Peková) and friends (Daniel Šíp, Julie Louthanová) who support him. But when she falls in love with the same age Radek (Adam Buš) during the admissions to the high school of art, she comes hard against the reality of the first emotional confusions, mistakes and failures. In good faith, he makes a few mistakes, on which others begin to pile up. His childishly naive world becomes cruelly adult within a few weeks. He suddenly has to face unexpected problems and misunderstandings from those around him. Will he manage to find a fragile inner balance in the storm of a difficult adolescence?
The screening of the first three episodes of the series is followed by a moderated debate with the creators, actors and a mental health expert. The series will be shown in Czech with English subtitles.
