Director Friedrich Monroe is having trouble completing his film about Lisbon, so he calls his friend, sound engineer Phillip, for help. However, he arrives late and discovers that Friedrich has disappeared somewhere and left behind only an unfinished film. Phillip decides to stay and work on the film. He is fascinated by the city and the Portuguese singer Teresa. Meanwhile, Friedrich wanders through Lisbon and tries to capture the city's atmosphere...
