Prehliadka Pamätnej izby Vrbu a Wetzlera

The tourist information office of the town of Žilina invites you to a tour of the commemorative room in Hollého 9 in Žilina, in the building of the former Jewish old age, which we honor the victims of the Holocaust and Racial Violence. The Jewish job council was testified by the first two refugees from Auschwitz-Birkenau, Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler, about what is happening in the death camp. Both were interrogated separately to find out the truth of the previously incredible and unverified news. Subsequently, the 32-page report of Wetzler and Vrba was written. Thanks to this report, many human lives have been saved and is still considered one of the most important documents of the 20th century. During your visit to the memorial room, you will get to know the historical context of events related to the emergence of the report. Authentic videos with survivors of the Holocaust will be screened as an accompanying program for the tour, and at the end there will also be space for discussion. (child under 6 years, disabled).
