About event
DEFA Songbook
Songs from DEFA films
We are in the years 1961-89 BC. The entire GDR is occupied by censors... The entire GDR? No! A village populated by indomitable artists never stops resisting the invader. And life is not easy for the actors, musicians and directors who work in the fortified DEFA camp.
And they created works of film art that were often banned or used the means of satire or intellectual mimicry to describe life in the GDR and speak between the lines.
The songs from these films are still full of power and beauty, they remind us of the time in which we heard them, sang, carried on and preserved.
Pascal von Wroblewsky and Lora Kostina, now a real dream team, are now bringing an excerpt of this song to the stage in new arrangements after composing Boris Pasternak's poems and looking back with it. Not in anger, but critically and lovingly.
Pascal von Wroblewsky, vocals
Lora Kostina, piano, arr
Daniel Werbach, bass
Tom Friedrich, drums
