About event
The event series “Prenzlberg on the Screen” aims to address various topics of social justice and community life in the film and discussion format. We use selected documentaries as an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas with experts about the respective focal points. The films' theme relates to a respective national or international day of remembrance in the current month. In September it is the International Day of Peace.

This time we are showing the film WAR OR PEACE (2024), which tells of the planned transformation of the former Wünsdorf military site into an ecological campus. Wünsdorf in Brandenburg was a military location for decades: first for the Prussians, then for the Wehrmacht, and finally for the Red Army. At the center of Elfi Mikesch's multifaceted essay is the pioneer of ecological urban development Ekhart Hahn, who, together with artists, is committed to a new, sustainable use of the place that, above all, promotes peace. Is a catharsis possible after the catastrophe?
We then want to talk about what prospects such a project offers or still has in times of current armament dynamics and military security efforts. What does it take on a political and social level to enable a real sustainability transformation?
With:
Elfi Mikesch
Photographer, camerawoman, director
