The year 2024 will be written into history so far as the warmest in modern history, records were broken not only for air temperatures, but especially for some oceans. Climate change is beginning to manifest itself in an increased frequency of unprecedented natural disasters, the most recent being the flash floods in Valencia with almost 250 dead and 100,000 destroyed cars.
For 29 years, politicians have been trying to limit climate change, diplomatic negotiations last many days, but what are the real results? The most important climate conference of the year, COP29, took place in November in Baku and focused on key topics:
🟢 Financing climate action: How to ensure sufficient funds to fight climate change, especially for developing countries?
🟢 Adaptation to climate change: How to prepare for the impacts of climate change, such as extreme weather events and sea level rise?
🟢 Losses and damages: How to compensate for losses and damages caused by climate change change in the most vulnerable regions?
🟢 More ambitious climate goals: How to increase ambitions in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and speed up the transition to a sustainable economy?
All of this will be discussed by experts who watched the meeting directly on the spot:
🌍 Petr Holub – senior director of the climate protection section of the Ministry of the Environment;
🌱 Barbora Kvasničková – analyst of the Association for International questions;
📝 Matěj Moravanský – climate reporter for Deník Referendum;
