About event
Mikhail Sokolovsky, writer, screenwriter, playwright. In 2022, after 20 years of a successful career in Russian cinema, he became an emigrant and lives in Berlin. The collection “Dragon Skeleton” (Fresh Verlag publishing house) is the author’s first book published outside of the country.
The main character of the play “Dragon Skeleton” recalls how he walked as a child in the vicinity of his native village and hid from the rain in a cave. There, in the depths, he came across the fossilized skeleton of a gigantic dragon with a huge head and small front paws, embedded in the wall. So young Leonardo da Vinci began to think about nature, its origin, development and movement, and rushed towards his main and unattainable dream - understanding the world.
Just as dinosaur skeletons in museums consist of fragments, fragments, fossils and reconstructions, so this book consists of texts from different years, genres and topics, united only by the author. The novel “The Testament of a Glutton,” written more than 10 years ago, takes place in Northern Tonga, a fictional country somewhere in the center of Europe. The action of the comedy “Srach” also takes place there, only in 2024. Place and time of action of the satirical story “House of Prayer” - Moscow, 2012. These are still “vegetarian” times, but Pussy Riot have already received their “two-piece”. “Dragon Skeleton” is the historical play that concludes the collection. None of the works presented in the book were published in Russia due to censorship.
At the presentation you will hear several stories from the life of the Russian screenwriter, the author's reading of the texts, you will be able to ask the author all the questions you are interested in, buy the book and get an autograph.
