About event
The lecture on history, planning and urbanism will present the Northern Town, of which the Ďáblice housing estate is a part, as a whole, in a broader context.
The area of the Northern Town, the area on the terrace above the right bank of the Vltava in the north of Prague, stretching from Bohnice to Prosek, underwent a dramatic transformation especially in the second half of the 20th century. The
predominantly agricultural landscape became home to many tens of thousands of Prague residents.
How was Prague planned? Where do the roots of considerations about development in the area of the Northern City go? What path led to the realization of the estates of Prosek, Ďáblice, Kobylisa and Bohnice? What are the connecting elements of the North City?
What is the wider context of the Ďáblice housing estate and what does it have in common with its neighbors in the Northern City?
The lecture will be led by a historian of architecture and urban planning, head of the Office of Archives and File Services
Institute of Planning and Development of the Capital City of Prague, Mgr. Martina Koukalová, Ph.D, who focuses on modern architecture and urbanism of the 20th century.
The lecture is co-organized by the Krásná Kobylisa Association, which, in addition to the protection and development of the values of the Ďáblice housing estate, is also dedicated to the popularization of topics related to the housing estate.
