Infra Slovakia Pedagogical publishing house invites a new webinar with speech therapist and scientist Mgr. Victoria Čiernik Kevicka, PhD.: Primary Progressive Affasy - Overview of Current Information. On Wednesday, September 3. 2025 (18.00 - 20.00). Participants will become acquainted with the historical development of the term primary progressive aphasia, as well as current knowledge of its three main variations - nonfluent, semantic and speechenic. In detail, their linguistic and cognitive manifestations, neuroanatomic connections and typical neuropathological findings will be discussed. Particular attention will be paid to comparing PPA with other neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease as well as vascular aphasia. We will also discuss the context of PPA with developmental learning disabilities (dyslexia) or PPA specifications in the bilingual population. neurodegeneration. Viktória Čiernik Kevická, PhD., Completed the master's and doctoral studies of speech therapy at the Department of Logophesis of the Faculty of Education of Comenius University in Bratislava. She works as a professional assistant at the Department of speech therapy PDF UK and also as a researcher at the Institute of Informatics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. In his work, he focuses on research of linguistic abilities in the adult population and disrupting them in aphasia, mild cognitive disorder, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, or frontotemporal dementia, including primary progressive aphasia. He focuses on the possibilities of early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases using artificial intelligence and the possibilities of using social robotics in the diagnosis and therapy of linguistic abilities. In addition to research activities, it provides speech therapy intervention to patients with neurogenic communication disorders in the center of Memory in Bratislava.
