About event
The Olšanské cemeteries are the largest burial ground in the Czech Republic, are situated on more than 50 hectares and the number of buried here is estimated at two million people. They were founded in 1786, but the beginnings of burial are even one hundred years older, in places at the Church of Sts. Rocha was buried in the mass graves of the victim of the plague. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Olšany cemeteries underwent significant development and became the main burial ground for the whole of Prague. During a walk focused on the newer part of the cemetery, this time visitors will commemorate mainly the personalities of the 20th century, such as actors, artists, writers, but also significant drivers of public life. There will also be Jan Werich with Jiří Voskovec, Jan Palach, Rudolf Hrušínský, Ladislav Smoljak, Vladimír Menšík, Radim Hladík, Radovan Lukavský or Karel Kutlvašr. Children under 12 years including free admission and without registration.
