Opera as you have never experienced it before. At your fingertips, in close proximity, in an atypical environment. On the Vltava embankment, between the Dancing House and the National Theatre, stands the Hlahol Federal House. An art nouveau gem by Josef Fanta with a unique genius loci hiding the last great work of Alfons Mucha. It is here that we present the most "national" Czech opera, Smetana's Bartered Bride, featuring leading Czech and Slovak singers. We emphasize comprehensibility, tradition, artistic quality and accessibility to the general public - from families with children to connoisseurs. We present the famous comic opera in a sensitively shortened form, in a version with spoken dialogues, accompanied by a piano and two clarinets. The production is based on emphasizing the basic features of Czech nature, wit, musical poetry and exaggeration. To the sound of well-known melodies such as "Why shouldn't we look forward" or "I know a girl", the audience finds themselves right in the center of the opera.

Please note that the seats in Hlahol are not numbered, the capacity of the hall is 230 spectators. If you want to choose a place among the first, please arrive early. Spectators always have access to the hall 30 minutes before the start of the performance. In 2024, we will present the production of The Sold Bride also on summer stages in cooperation with Kultura pod hvězdami and NKP Vyšehrad.
