About event

The art collections of the Roudnice branch of the Lobkowicz family belong to the oldest, most extensive and most valuable family collections in Europe. They include unique works of art, music and historical weapons. The history of some collection items reaches more than a thousand years.

Part of the permanent exhibition of the museum in the Lobkowicz Palace are paintings by world-famous painters such as Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Canaletto, Cranach, and Velázquez; extremely valuable are the collections of applied arts, among whose treasures you can find, for example, the largest extant Delft faience dining set in the world.

The collection of musical instruments, manuscript and printed scores, parts and librettos is also unique. The collection's pride of place includes the correspondence of family members with many artists, or sheet music with preserved hand-written arrangements by music giants such as Mozart and Beethoven. These can be viewed as part of the Portrait in Notes exhibition.

Visitors to the museum are accompanied through the twenty-one halls by an audio guide narrated by two generations of the Lobkowicz family and the chief curator. The audio guide is available in nine languages and is included in the ticket price.
