The documentary about the endless building of the D8 motorway, which was supposed to connect Prague with Germany. Instead, it divided the landscape and society - and became a symbol of national incapacity, legal struggle and everyday frustration of the locals. D8 was supposed to connect Prague with Germany, but instead divides not only the protected landscape of the Czech Central Mountains, but also the public opinions. While environmentalists have drawn attention to the illegality of the building and the risks for nature, the locals have been tolerating the endless stream of trucks directly below the windows for years. Iva Bystřičan follows the futile efforts of the state to complete the last kilometers of the highway and asks what all may fail when the authorities do not follow their own rules. The film frames impressive images of the landscape and Wagner's monumental music, in contrast to the absurdity and frustration of everyday reality.
