Georgia, a country situated on the border of Europe and Asia, is a place where the interests of the superpowers have long encountered. Its northern regions of Khevsuretia and Svanetia, harsh and beautiful places that still retain their uniqueness, remain aside from the main events. But how does the history of Soviet oppression, the current political uncertainty and the rapidly advancing globalization sign on these areas?
We cordially invite you to screen two documentary films - Holy Places and the silver gable of Georgia - which will take you to these Caucasian regions. Come and immerse yourself in the world of ancient customs, disappearing traditions and extraordinary artistic works of gold and silver hidden in the mountains. You will find out how far we can introduce us to touch the fragile cultural heritage.
The screening will take place on April 11, 2025 from 19:00 at the Pilot cinema (Donská 168, Prague - Vršovice). There will be a discussion with filmmakers.
Admission to screening is voluntary.

A short documentary film on the peculiar form of religious traditions and cultural identity in the Georgian region of Khevsureti.
The document was created as a project of students of the Faculty of Arts and FAMU.
The silver shield of Georgia. Svanetie and her hidden treasures

The film tells a story of huge cultural wealth hidden in inconspicuous churches of the most remote parts of the Caucasus. The inhabitants of the Georgian region of Svanetie protect these treasures for generations, which also survived the difficult historical periods. Visit inaccessible places with a group of scientists who have literally unlocked the door to the past.
Documentary film was created for Re: Cent-Center for Study and Popularization of Medieval Visual Culture in cooperation with the Universites de Fribourg as part of the project “Cultural Dialogues in the South Kavkazský Region in the Middle Ages: Historiographical and Historical-German perspective” with financial support of the Czech grant agency.
