On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the liberation of the North -Syrian city of Kobane from the so -called Islamic State, we have prepared a screening of Gava şitil Mezin Dibin (when seedlings grow / When the Seedlings Grow). The award -winning drama from 2022 was filmed by Syrian/Kurdish director Rêger Azad just in Kobane. to the parents. The joint search for the boy's family will offer viewers the opportunity to look at the life of two young children and remember what things were important for us before. Although the film takes place shortly after the end of the war, it does not emphasize the depiction of the suffering of people in a devastated city, on the contrary, it seeks to uncover the opportunity to fully perceive their own existence. Life is very few moments when we return to ourselves or our immediate surroundings, when we touch them. We are constantly busy and in a hurry. In such a system we lead our everyday life without realizing it. And we define it as living. But we just work. It is also a harder reality in European society. Similar intensity is everywhere. It's a system problem. It is the basic problem of people, the company of global world. ” - Rêger Azad

We will project the film in the original version (in Kurdish) with English subtitles. The screening will be preceded by a short talk about the current situation in Kobane and northeast Syria.
