/13. 03. Culture! They organized more than 20 public protests. From creative protest in the form of yoga exercise before Bibiana, simultaneous protests in 14 cities throughout Slovakia to the protest march Bratislava, which was attended by more than 9,000 people.
Most of us had no experience to organize protest rallies before. Therefore, many protests have been created on the go, often with the help of other initiatives that provided us with advice, equipment and contacts. We will draw attention to the factors to be taken into account, although they cannot be controlled, and the errors that have occurred in the organization of public meetings.
Last but not least, we will look at the evaluation of past protests and in their example we will clarify when we think the protest is successful and what goals it can and should be pursued. The result will be a practical overview for all who want to actively contribute to civil activities. She is the director of Schaubmar Mill in Pezinok, the extended workplace of the Slovak National Gallery, and is actively involved in the initiative Open Culture!. At the same time, she is a member of the Committee of Cultural Strike, whose aim is to stop the devastation interventions of the current leadership of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic to culture at all its levels.
♦ Adam Straka is a film theorist and distributor. Since 2019 he has been a strategic director in the distribution company Film Expanded, and at the same time he has been a PhD student at the Department of Film Studies at FTF VŠMU and Vice -Chairman of the Association of Slovak Documentary Film. He is a member of the coordination team of open culture! and the Committee of the Cultural Strike. He is a co-founder of T3-cultural resources and a member of the Coordination team of the Platform Open Culture! OK!
