About event

Quasars Ensemble closes the concert season with a program that brings together internationally established creators with the rising generation of composers and performers. The evening will offer Slovak premieres, new works and music by authors who have long-term artistic collaborations. The program reveals diverse forms of contemporary music and brings together several creative generations and cultural backgrounds.

The concert will be opened by the Slovak premiere of In-Caring by the Polish composer Monika Szpyrka. The work was performed just recently at the opening concert of the International Festival of Composers in Krakow, where it was performed by the Quasars Ensemble.

The guest of the evening will be flautist Barbora Špelinová, a recent graduate of the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. She will present the composition Mime for tenor recorder by Ivan Buffa, to which she also dedicated her master's thesis. Her interpretation is thus based on a long-term and intense artistic and analytical interest in this work.

Current young work will be represented by the premiere of the composition Processes by the Ukrainian composer Olesia Stepura, a composition student at VŠMU. Her music is characterized by sensitive work with sound color and plastic shaping of musical processes.

The end of the concert will belong to the composition Perpetual Spring by the Japanese composer Dai Fujikuru, one of the most prominent personalities of contemporary music. He is connected with the Quasars Ensemble by a long-standing artistic partnership and a number of joint projects at home and abroad.
