How can the film convey the voice of the oppressed? How does the struggle for the kvir of law intertwine with the fight against colonialism and genocide? And what does it mean to stand on the side of justice, even if it is uncomfortable? 🇵🇸🫂
This event is part of the International Queer Cinema for Palestine (QCP), which arose as an act of solidarity with all who opposed the so -called. Pinkwashing - a strategy by which Israel seeks to cover its participation in the occupation and violation of human rights of Palestinians by presented as "a leader in LGBTI+ rights". QCP follows the call of the Palestinian Movement for boycott, sanctions and dives (BDS), which calls for cultural institutions and individuals not to participate in the state sponsored Israeli events such as TLVFEST - Tel Aviv International LGBTQ Film Festival. Several Kvira filmmakers and filmmakers around the world have refused to cooperate with TLVFEST and instead created their own platform for the promotion of Palestinian resistance: Queer Cinema for Palestine. genocide in Gaza. In the context of systematic dehumanization and violent erasure of the Palestinian people, including the Palestinian and Palestinians, it is necessary to ask questions: Who has the right to be seen? Who can tell your story? And whose paintings are constantly censored, overlapped or ignored? This is an international collection that reflects the Palestinian and Lebanese experience as an experience of corporeality, desire, persistence, but also losses, rooting and constant threats. The films were made in exile, in the occupied areas and in the diasporas - and all connects to resist erase. It is a gesture of solidarity. It is a challenge that, as viewers and audiences, we re -evaluate our comfort, expand our optics and listen to the voice, which are often systematically silenced. The event also has an ambition to be a space for discussion of how LGBTI+ rights are inseparable from a wider match for social and global justice.
