About event
The end of the year is approaching and we have achieved great things. 🎉
In the Pakt cultural center you can see the new panel exhibition We owe it to them 🖼️, which brings stories of perseverance and hope of queer people in Slovakia. 🌈
While enjoying the Christmas punch 🍷✨, you can listen to a staged reading from the comic book Socialism with a warm face 📚 and later also to an open mic of the editorial team of the magazine QYS 🎤.
In the new, winter issue, you will find their essays about life in various Slovak cities. How was prejudice fought in Martin and where can you find safe places in Prešov?
The evening will be completed by a concert.
Program:
🕖 18:00 / opening of the exhibition We owe it to them
📖 18:20 / reading from Socialism with a warm face
🎤 19:00 / open mic
🎵 20:00 / concert Jakub Šimanský
🎵 21:00 / DJ mix Rhuby Wax
BIO musicians:
DJ Rhuby Wax is a passionate vinyl digger who takes you from gospel grooves to raw Detroit. Raised on the Scottish and Dutch club scene, Bali G likes to mix 90s NYC house with Latin energy and unexpected boogie and tech-house surprises. In their b2b set, they will bring the essence of Fractal Disco Club – crispy sound, playfulness and a community atmosphere that brings people together. 1, which was released in 2016 on the label Stoned to Death Records.
The album was well received at home and abroad, especially in the subculture of the "American Primitivism" genre, from which it drew to some extent. In his music, however, not only a unique approach to playing, variety in tuning and rhythm, but also a feeling for strong melodies, which also connects to the tradition of Czech folk and Eastern music, are noticeable.
In the spring of 2025, after more than five years, Jakub's new album titled "What Do You Mean By That?" will be released.
