About event

Film evening

As part of the Short Film Day 2025 - an initiative of the Federal Association of German Short Film - we are showing a selection of queer works.

The first part of the evening is the program "No Legend, No Story", which was put together by Katja Briesemeister (freelance curator and short film coordinator of the Hamburg International Queer Film Festival). The protagonists of the program leave the paths intended for them in very different phases of life in order to courageously go their own way.

In A Summer Place, the frustrated Tina gets a very special birthday surprise that steers her life in an unexpected direction. Yael from Waking up in Vegas, on the other hand, has to come to terms with his dominant brother without endangering his friendship with Aaron. Anemone resists the strict influence of her family and goes to great lengths to express her awakening identity. The Saint of Dry Creek is an example of how parents sometimes know their children better than they know themselves. And the last film shows how Angelique from the Bavarian province writes her very own life story with a lot of courage.

In the second part we show two short films by the Berlin filmmaker Melanie Hierhammer, who will also be present in the hall. In Companions we can expect a love story between two women in the 19th century - and a magical force that stands in their way. It's time presents the fashion designer Florence with a challenge: she has fallen in love, but the person it affects doesn't know it yet.

After the screening, Melanie Hierhammer will be happy to answer the audience's questions about her films and her work.

Popcorn (sweet and salty) and snacks are provided, and cool drinks are available at our bar!

Entry 7 p.m. • Starts at 8 p.m p.m. • Admission free, donations welcome
