About event
For centuries queer people had to hide. Their traces are also hidden in the collections and exhibitions of the Vienna Museum - and on this tour we make them visible and tangible. Because the absence of queer history is not a coincidence, but the result of systematic erasure. We counter this forgetting with memory and appropriation.
Since the redesign of the permanent exhibition, queer history has also been visible in the Vienna Museum - from the 18th century to the present. But there are still many partially hidden clues waiting to be discovered. This indoor walk traces them.
What awaits you?
Queer history you can touch In the Vienna Museum's new permanent exhibition, queer city history can be experienced from its beginnings to the present - tangible, visible and tangible.
Hidden Traces By Johannes von Müller im 18th century to queer victims of the Nazi era to contemporary urban life - we discover together what the exhibition shows and what is still hidden.
Questions & counter-narratives We ask questions that have not been asked for too long and appropriate the narratives - through reinterpretation, counter-narrative and the queer view of Vienna's city history.
For who? Anyone who wants to discover queer history, city history and Vienna off the beaten path - whether alone, with friends or as a group.
