About event

At this Queer City Walk we encounter and commemorate queer people at the Vienna Central Cemetery

The Vienna Central Cemetery has been a" history book "of the city for 150 years. Numerous well -known personalities who have shaped Vienna's past and present rest here. But the cemetery also tells an important chapter of queer history.

On our tour we explore the final resting places of historical figures associated with queer history and culture. In addition to famous names such as Eduard van der Nüll, Franz Schubert, Nikolaus Dumba, the Wittgenstein family, Wenzel Graf Gleispach, Marcel Prawy, Engelbert Broda, Johanna Dohnal, Dorothea Neff & Eva Zilcher, Rosa Jochmann, Max Lorenz and Theodor Körner, we also meet less well -known Fates.

We particularly commemorate Franz Doms, who was murdered in the Nazi era, and recently Hermes Phettberg, one of the most dazzling figures in the recent Viennese cultural history.
