About event

What does Questing 32 mean? Questing means searching...
The full name of our game is "Questing as part of experiential pedagogy". We will not only play, but also educate with a short game, or prepare or test it together.
And 32? There will be at least 32 games with a guided tour with a certified guide, and they are divided in such a way that we play at least 4 in each region of Slovakia by the end of the year.
Each game will take about an hour, but some places may take two hours due to the necessary transfer.

Did you know that this is the city located on a stratovolcano? It is one of the largest stratovolcanoes in Europe and was active 15 million years ago in the younger Tertiary period. It originally had a diameter of around 50 km, but erosion and geological processes have changed its original form over time, while volcanic rocks such as andesites and rhyolites have been preserved, which testify to its volcanic past.
Volcanic activity created rich deposits of ores, especially silver and of gold, which led to the development of mining and helped found the city of Banská Štiavnica. It subsequently became an important center of mining science and technology. Technical monuments and mining works are still preserved here, which are part of the UNESCO world heritage.

Samuel Mikovíni, an important cartographer, engineer, and educator, who contributed significantly to the development of the city in the 18th century, also worked in Štiavnica. and the entire mining region. He was born in 1686 and during his lifetime became one of the most respected scientists of his time. Mikovíni worked in Banská Štiavnica as a professor at the Mining Academy (today's Slovak Technical University), the first university of its kind in the world. Here he taught cartography, geodesy and other technical subjects necessary for the mining industry.
His work was key to the design and construction of the mining and water management system in the region, which is still among the unique technical monuments in Slovakia. Mikovíni was the author of the water management system of taiches, which are artificial water reservoirs that were used to drive mining equipment. This system included dozens of taiches and an extensive network of canals and ditches. His accurate maps and cartographic works were used in the management of mines and mining of ores, many of which are still recognized as some of the most accurate maps of their time.
