The memorial to the victims of fascism in Kremnička, a part of Banská Bystrica, commemorates the tragic events of the Second World War. From November 5, 1944 to March 17, 1945, the Nazi unit Einsatzkommando 14 carried out a series of mass executions here in cooperation with the Slovak emergency units of the Hlinka Guard. A total of 747 victims, including women and children, were found in the mass graves. In 1949, the Monument to the Victims of Fascism, the work of the prominent Slovak architect Dušan Samuel Jurkovič, was built on the site of the mass grave. In 1963, the monument was declared a national cultural monument. A memorial to murdered Jewish residents, a symbolic Menorah candlestick, which was attached to the original memorial in 1995, is part of the place of worship.
