About event
RADAR 02: Market, Chochmess, Krstní Otcovia
Hey, the second Radar will happen one day after the first, but now you can expect a band night. Three young projects that move in many subgenres of alternative rock will be presented. From beginning garage music to very carefully thought out art rock, a scene that really needs to be heard will be presented.
Market
"Life entered our work on the record, but the few years won't feel like an extra long break, it's good to take care of things," said the guys from Market at the release of the Love Bombing record, which a few weeks later entered various annual charts across the scene. The quintet of Marek Amirids, Šimon Marek, Jakub Šponer, Ondřej Šponer and Pavel Vít was in one round after the debut Art Star (2018), mainly in concert, the EP A Certain Beauty (2020) fell somewhat during the deep covid pandemic, and with it the group as such. After five years, they are back, and if they were labeled "pop with an ADHD diagnosis" from the very beginning and critics did not know how to deal with their genre mix, the novelty did not make it too easy for them. We can talk about indie, art rock and jazz, but the truth remains that comparing them to anyone on the scene, especially the domestic one, is futile.
Chochmess
A band from the Ružinovská garage, whose genre is hard to define in one word, but mostly leans towards post rock, which is varied by other subgenres. In their lyrics, for example, they deal with themes of the search for
personality, criticism of tradition, problems of socio-political affairs, and the like, but their lyrics often have a touch of Dadaist nonsense.
Krstní Otcovia
They are a band that moves between alternative rock and
energetic post-punk, while their music repeatedly grows into hypnotic
krautrock areas. Elements of electronics and experimentation are also present. All of their
musical techniques are fully developed on their debut album The Continuous Movement, which was ranked as one of the best domestic albums of the last year.
