It happened four hundred years ago in Radošin, when an unfaithful woman, Mária Poljaková, suddenly left her husband - the strange guy Mack Poljak - and fled to Trnava. In the village, which was then a city, it caused an unprecedented uproar at the time, especially because a similar situation could be repeated in other houses! And so the frightened magistrate Radošiny sent her friend, the old girl Etela Vlasáková, to follow Poljaková's footsteps to find the unfaithful woman in Trnava and bring her back to the village. A very authentic letter from the Trnava city archive from 1548.
Vlasáková sets out on a journey in our play, but not only does she get lost on the way, but she also gets lost in time. And so he travels for years, but also for centuries, and suddenly, on his endless journey of searching, he meets not only famous and interesting historical figures, but also beaten pilgrims, the first workers, and conducts passionate conversations with them (doctor Ján Jessenius, Napoleon Bonaparte, Anton Bernolák, Ján Hollý, Ľudovít Štúr, Jozef Miloslav Hurban, Michal Hodža, Adela Ostrolúcka, Andrej Sládkovič, Marína, Anička Jurkovičová, Jonáš Záborský, Svetozár Hurban Vajanský, Mikoláš Aleš, male and female worker in the factory, P. O. Hviezdoslav, Jozef Murgaš, etc.). He talks to them just when our greats - and those like them - are searching, doubting, when they are ordinary, vulnerable people, which, of course, brings a whole range of unexpected, surprising and especially comical situations to the productions. An important component of the production are the songs of Ján Melkovič (and other composers) interpreted by the present live music group, the RND singing and dancing ensemble. , had its first premiere in 1983 at the Trnava Theater under the direction of Juraj Nvota (it had its second premiere in RND in 2003). And it is Juraj Nvota who is also the director of the new, modified, supplemented latest version of Štepka's poetic play.
And because thoughts about our national journey and the search for identity are still extremely topical in our society, we decided to present the play in in our theater - in the new current author's and director's form.
The premieres were in RND on November 8 and 9 2024.
