Through The Web Of Time - 40 Years of the Rainbirds
In 1986, the Rainbirds turned a plan into a hit: With “Blueprint” they created not just a song, but a real blueprint for sophisticated pop music. The sound of the Berlin band around singer and songwriter Katharina Franck proves even four decades after its founding: When pop is done well, it goes straight to the heart.
The Rainbirds' songs have lost none of their relevance. They are delicate, playful, expansive and minimalist. And they always have the urge to want to be heard. For the band's 40th anniversary, they are returning to the stage with the (expanded) original line-up: In addition to the founding members Katharina Franck and bassist Michael Beckmann as well as the pianist, composer and long-time "Rainbird" Ulrike Haage, the electric guitarist Werner Neumann and the drummer Dominique "Gaga" Ehlert are on stage.
For the anniversary concert series, the seven albums - from From the celebrated debut “Rainbirds” to “Yonder” released in 2014, Rodrigo González (Die Ärzte) and founding member Wolfgang Glum also take the spotlight as guests.
“These will be the best Rainbirds there have ever been,” promises Katharina Franck, the lead bird with the still clear and variable voice and the only constant in the group since 1986 walking formation. “Or, as I sing it in my song “Milestone,” it will be nothing less than “the turning point as a haven of calm in troubled days, the turning point as the starting point for many new questions.”
