About event

Rainer Jacis, whose stormy activities in recent years have resulted in the completion of several sound installations, the restarted rock hit Metro Luminal, and besides which he still has time to be a guitar teacher at the Kärdla Music School, is presenting the new vinyl record "Tahkuna Kanon".

A quick look at the calendar of presentation concerts shows worthy performances as part of the international guitar festival in Viljandi on October 10, in the KUMU auditorium on October 19, in the Haapsalu Cultural Center on the 25th and in the Võru Kandle Culture House on October 26. The multi-instrumentalist and composer, who has now recorded eighteen times with various projects, has also included composer saxophonist Maria Faust in his activities this time, who will perform as a guest in Haapsalu and Võru.

"Tahkuna canon" was quite a challenge for me," says the author, "because the original work was written for an installation covering several rooms of the Tahkuna lighthouse at once, so it was necessary to work hard to cast a peculiar feeling in a stereo image." Jancis explains that he recorded all the music in the Tahkuna lighthouse with a microphone placed on each floor, and by mixing the material with the original source, he finally achieved the desired result after several failed attempts. "When you listen to the final result with headphones, you can no longer take them off your head, because the ears become like an extra pair of eyes and a dreamlike journey on the spiral metal stairs can begin," adds the author. the pulse of the non-musical experiencer. The eclectically assembled program is full of surprising twists and juggling with different instruments, from blues to Bach. Beating the rhythm with a self-built foot drum kit, the music sounds without phrase repeaters, as if there are several people on stage.
