About event
We invite you to an unusual tour of the former missile base at the top of Devínska Kobyla, a place where nature meets the tense history of the Cold War.
We will enter an area that was inaccessible and strictly guarded for decades to protect the airspace of the western border of the former Czechoslovakia.
During the tour, we will take a closer look at the functioning of the air defense of the state, the daily life of soldiers, the technical background of the base and the strategic importance of Bratislava as a border city on the border of two worlds - East and West.
We will explain what missile systems were located here, how radar control worked and why Devínska Kobyla was the ideal place for such a device.
The tour will offer not only historical facts, but also a strong authentic experience from the space of concrete bunkers, firing positions and silent witnesses of the recent past.
The place that once symbolized tension and the threat of a nuclear conflict, today opens a discussion about the memory of the country, the protection of borders and the transformation of military objects into a part of cultural heritage.
Discover the story of a missile base that was hidden from public view for many years and which today tells its story openly.
Please note that this is a URBEX - now ruins.
Move at your own risk - please stick to the guide's route - behave responsibly.
When moving through the area, look carefully under your feet - hatches may be missing or the terrain may be unpaved or otherwise dangerous.
We recommend:
- drinking water
- hiking shoes
- flashlight (lamp)
At the end of the tour, you have the opportunity to move to the observation tower on Devínská Kobyle and enjoy the views or later the sunset sun.
