Because of record profits? Inflation in Europe in the case of Slovakia
In the last 3 years, prices in Slovakia have increased by 20%in the euro area, 10.9%in the last 3 years. Traditionally, it is said that there is a rise in energy prices, the outbreak of war in Ukraine, but also problems with the supply chains. However, foreign studies point out that inflation was mainly covered by fabulous profits of companies: in 2022 in Britain caused 59% inflation of companies, in the US 54%. The International Monetary Fund said in the European Union profits participated in inflation of 45%. It is inflation or so -called. Greedflation - inflation driven by greed? How was it in Slovakia and why so much more? Which factors that sectors and businesses played a key role in the growth of consumer prices? The government has proceeded to the across the price of the energy prices for consumers, which de facto retired the distributors and energy producers. Was it a meaningful measure? The sector of agriculture and food industry also showed high profitability. Is it right that the government has accepted higher profits of companies? What lessons can we take with the crisis development of 2022-2023 to be ready for any other inflation shocks?
