About event
The Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic invites you to an interdisciplinary workshop dedicated to the topic of edible insects and their role in sustainable agriculture, food production and catering.
The meeting will open from 3 p.m. with the lecture Producing "edible" insects: imagining care and welfare in future food systems (Christopher Bear, Cardiff University).
From 4 to 6 p.m., there will be a controlled tasting of insect-based dishes, which will include a joint reflection not only of our feelings and sensory impressions, but also of bioethical , environmental, cultural and nutritional aspects of eating insects. Eating insects is not a mandatory part of the tasting, we can also talk about why we don't eat insect dishes.
We will make an audiovisual recording of the event for the purpose of subsequent sociological analysis. The record will not be published and any publication output will be strictly anonymized.
The lecture (with discussion) will be held in English. The guided tasting will take place in Czech.
