Style & goal

Rebetikon is dedicated to the genre of rebetiko, also known as “Greek Blues,” which originated in Greece and Asia Minor at the beginning of the 20th century.

Their goal is to musically express this style of music with simplicity, dedication and respect for the original method of composition and performance, to revive the authentic sound of that era.

Special features

Through the line-up of singers, baglamas, bouzoukis and guitar, the band takes up typical instruments of Rebetiko.

Although based in Cologne, their focus is clearly on a traditional and at the same time lively interpretation of Greek musical tradition.

They regularly perform at events in Cologne and the surrounding area.
