War reporter, actor or witness?
Slimane Zeghidour is a French writer and journalist. Born in Kabylia (Algeria) in 1953, he grew up in Erraguene, a regroupment camp, and learned to read and write with young French conscripts. He moved to Paris in 1974 and began as an illustrator for Libération and Pilote before starting a career writer and major reporter (Le Monde, Le Nouvel Observateur, Géo, Télérama, El País, La Vie). He is editor-in-chief at TV5 Monde. He is the author of Daily Life in Mecca (Hachette, 1989) which received the Clio History Prize, The Veil and the banner (Hachette, 1990), Algeria in colors with Tramor Quemeneur (Les Arènes, 2011), Get out, the road awaits you (Les Arènes, 2017). He will tell us about his years in the field as a war reporter, covering several conflicts in South America, numerous civil wars as well as crisis situations in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The List bookstore will be present with a selection of books on the subject and works by Slimane Zeghidour.
