About event

We invite you to the visually engaging exhibition of South Bohemian artist Richard Dražan, which will take place from 18.11. until 23.11. in the (A)Void Gallery on the Rašín embankment not far from Mánes and Tančící dom. The exhibition will include not only a committee from the author of the painting, but also an experimental projection.

Opening: 18.11.18:00

In the artistic expression of Richard Dražan, influences such as art brut, graffiti can be found and post-graffiti, whose painting technique and raw expression are tried to be transferred to the canvas in a redefined form. In his artistic process, he mainly works with expression, which he uses more as a tool than as the final result of the work. With its help, he articulates more or less complex emotional moods and thoughts on the canvas. A certain lightness is evident in his paintings, which are often hacked and broken, only to be subsequently resurrected. It is thus a constant polemic between the macro whole and the micro fragments of the work itself. And the charm of the continuity of the transformation of contrasts expressed through the compositions, forms, shapes and colors with which the artist tirelessly experiments.

Richard Dražan, originally from České Budějovice, studied fine arts at the University of Derby and subsequently graduated with a master's degree art history, cultural and visual studies at the University of South Bohemia. He is one of the winners of the Freelands Painting Prize Foundation. He exhibited his works, for example, in the ArtCore Gallery in Derby, in London, and also at his home in České Budějovice, or in the Prádelna gallery in Český Krumlov.
