Can you imagine a 3D printer as a musical instrument? What if you could determine the rhythm, dynamics or even phrasing? And what if its mechanical movements not only became a side sound effect, but the basis of the musical composition? It was created at Ham, where they met as a classmate of the department of composition. The initial impulse came from Richard's bachelor thesis aimed at capturing the sounds of different types of working environments, including a 3D printer. (The result was an album called Silence does not exist from 2023). Mechanical sounds have therefore led him to the idea of moving from recording to creating a musical instrument that could be controlled in real time. Cooperation, which initially focused mainly on the technical solution gradually deepened - Patrik became a full part of the project and created a creative team in which the technical and compositional thinking of both authors naturally overlaps. Their different approaches complement each other and lead to discovery of options that would not reveal separately. events. What if you coulded give it rhythm, dynamics or even phrasing?
