About event
The folklore is complex and needs to be sensitively tissue / overwhelmed in the rhythm of today's folk - social life. In contemporary folklore, many narratives and voices (including LGBTQIA+ communities) cannot be found to be the appropriate representation. Inclusion / Exclusive folklore is our starting point for investigating ritual performance: Ride of Kings. We focus on the ritual surrounding the ride of the kings, inspired by an in -depth examination of one of the key aspects of the ritual: transformation. Ritual performance is the cooperation of Sonya Darrow (folklore artist & sociologist), David Severy (designer and artist), Jan Bražina (designer and artist), and the Drag Kings (Rudy Daddy, Chad Clitt, Tommie Foolerie). The program is part of the folk-art movement: Folklore’s Not Dead. In contrast to Drag Kings (Masculin performing performers), they are still marginalized to an obscure group omitted from conversations about art, pop-culture and craft Drag in general. By creating a micro-lament this performance, we build a space in which Kings (kings) can express and present their transformation through a stylized folklore ritual and penetrate artistic discourse. It is a paradoxical connotation that the traditional ride of the kings, probably the most famous folklore ritual awarded by the UNESCO platform, is basically a form of drag show. The informal team of kings (Rudy Daddy, Chad Clitt, Tommie Foolery), which was created as a place to share opportunities and booking for the first time at the festival in the middle as an artistic team.
