About event
Robert Forster & Band-Europa Tour 2025
with the kind support of the Foundation Kissensart
Presented by Rolling Stone, bytefm and Laut.de
Robert Forster-known as the half of the legendary Australian indie duos The Go Between-looks back on an impressive solo career. This is based on tireless tours, his work as a writer ("Grant & I", "The Ten Rules of Rock’n’Roll") and its productivity in the studio. With Strawberries he now presents his ninth solo album - produced by Peter Morén (Peter, Björn & John) in Stockholm.
The title -giving idea came into being in a holiday kitchen: an empty bowl of exceptionally good strawberries, a spontaneous song approach ("Someone ate all the Strawberries") - and at the end a duet with his wife Karin Bäumler. But Strawberries is not a personal diary of the diary, but mostly consists of observed, fictional character studies - "story songs", as Forster calls them. His laconic nature is combined with surprising musical elements-from rockabilly vibes to glam bonds to free-spiritual saxophone erosion. In particular, the monumental final "Diamonds" blows up all expectations of Forster sound with falsett and jazz elements.
The recordings in Stockholm followed with a local band: arriving, samples, taking up, leaving-everything within a few weeks. The result is a multifaceted album that carries Forster's handwriting and at the same time goes new tonal paths. And as the artist himself says: "I love it when you think you know me - and then this last song comes." Beginning 8pm
