About event
As a documentary and theater photographer, Robert Tappert found the intersection of both focuses in his long-term project mapping the theater. His photographs are not created on stage, but behind the scenes, technical background or exterior - where the theater merges with reality.
Tappert captures actors and actresses in a fragile moment between themselves and the character, in a moment, in a vaguely defined moment.
Robert Tappert (1983) studied theater direction at VŠMU in Bratislava and at DAMU in Prague. He specializes in documentary and portrait photography with a conceptual overlap. He is the holder of several prestigious awards (PX3 Paris Photo Prize, The Andrei Stenin International Photo Contest, Slovak Press Photo, Czech Press Photo). He won three times at the Biennial of Theater Photography organized by the Theater Institute. As a theater photographer, he works with theaters in Slovakia and abroad.
The exhibition was prepared by the Theater Institute in cooperation with the Slovak National Theatre.
