Roberta (2022) - Melkweg Amsterdam

This evening, together with the Amsterdam platform Steppin' Into Tomorrow, we will be watching a documentary about the legendary soul singer Roberta Flack, by filmmaker Antonino D'Ambrosio. She is, of course, best known for the songs "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "Killing Me Softly," which made her the first person in history to win two Grammy Awards for Best Record (a feat only recently matched by Billie Eilish), but there is so much more to her story and her impact. The documentary received the full cooperation and support of Roberta Flack herself and her record label and delivers everything you would expect from it. Also featuring Clint Eastwood, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Angela Davis and Sean Lennon.
