About event
The ancestors of the American artist Noah Breuer owned a textile factory in Dvór Králové nad Labem. At the beginning of World War II, it was confiscated from them and most of the members of this Jewish family perished in concentration camps. In 2016, Breuer found fabric samples of the family textile mill in the Czech archive, and created an exhibition collection combining historical ornaments and contemporary design. He presented the collection for the first time in the autumn of 2024 in Havlíčk's villa in Břeclav.
During the lecture, Breuer will explain his search for family history, the roots of which go back to Dvor Králové and Vienna. The lecture will also include a projection of period photographs and images of works of art, which are now on display in Břeclav.
The lecture will be opened by journalist Judita Matyášová, who has been dealing with the fate of Jewish families and individuals for a long time, and is involved in the organization of events accompanying Breuer's exhibition.
The evening will be held in English with interpretation into Czech. The event is supported by the Moravian Beauty foundation.
