On November 4, there will be a screening of the film “The Hidden Man”, in memory of Andrei Platonov, as well as a meeting-discussion with director Roma Liberov.
Roma Liberov is the director of films about Brodsky, Ilf and Petrov, Olesha, Dovlatov and the author of many literary projects. In “The Hidden Man,” he combined Platonov’s biography with film fantasies based on his works and notebooks. This is the story of the creation and death of a new world in seven days, in which the great communist dream was shattered by the intense construction of a totalitarian world.
The roles include famous actors, including Anatoly Bely, Timofey Tribuntsev, participants of the Brusnikin Workshop. The soundtrack is Soviet songs performed by Shortparis leader Nikolai Komyagin and Alexandra Kutman (ex-Jack Wood singer), the trumpet of the legendary Vyacheslav Gaivoronsky, the virtuoso violin of Boris Kipnis and the existential anthems of Civil Defense.
A film about a brilliant writer XX century, studied far and wide, but never solved.
The basis of the plot was a biography, presented in the collage technique characteristic of Liberov: game episodes alternate with documentary filming, animation - with a theater of objects and shadows, the visuals are stitched with computer graphics, voices, melodies, songs are superimposed on it...

Roma Liberov is a filmmaker known for his works about Brodsky, Ilf and Petrov, Olesha, Dovlatov, and for numerous literary projects. In “The Innermost Man,” he intertwines Platonov’s biography with cinematic fantasies based on his works and personal notebooks. This is a story of the creation and demise of a new world in seven days, where the great communist dream collides with the tense construction of a totalitarian regime.
The film features well-known actors, including Anatoly Beliy, Timofey Tribuntsev, and participants from the Brusnikin Workshop.
