Roman Jakobson revisited

Roman Jakobson has long been one of the most important and riots in linguistics and literary theory. In 1995, he published an interview with researcher Miroslav Červenka, which said the claim: "It might seem that the name Roman Jakobson knows anyone who is interested in Czech literature." Does this statement still have its validity? What is today's view of Jakobson and his work? With the approaching anniversary of the founding of the Prague linguistic club, which will fall for next year, it is necessary to think about the formation of one of its founders. The debate will give the opportunity to critically evaluate some canonical concepts formulated by Jakobson, especially the concept of "poetic functions". Furthermore, some boundaries and usability of Jakobson theories will be outlined not only in the field of poetry in the narrower sense, but also in context with fine arts.
