Roman Pokorný Jazz Trio

The Roman Pokorný Jazz Trio will perform at the Jazz Dock on January 3rd.

One of the leading Czech guitarists will play this time with his trio. His energetic music comes mainly from the jazz mainstream with blues roots. Music such as hard-bop or soul-jazz was most popular especially in the 50s and 60s, but it still has its charm, energy and grateful listeners. The sound and aesthetics of this style could be characterized by a list of famous albums of the past: George Benson - Cook Book, Kenny Burrell/Jimmy Smith - Blue Bash, Grant Green - Grantstand or R. Pokorný's penultimate act Brooklyn Session, which he recorded in New York with Pat Bianchi, Frank Basil and Byron Landham. R. Pokorný has already released nine self-titled albums during his career and is thus rightly ranked among the best that the Prague jazz scene has to offer. His new effort is dedicated to the work of Duke Ellington and is called Cab to Cotton Club and was released in September 2018.
