In Nijmegen Waalsprong (and Waalfront), Vattenfall provides all new-build homes with a connection to the District Heating Network. The homes therefore do not need their own central heating boiler or heat pump for heating the home and hot tap water. Approx. 95% of all heat required for this comes from waste incinerator ARN in Weurt. This achieves a CO2 reduction of approximately 75% compared to HR combi boilers.
In the cold winter months, or if there is a malfunction at ARN, the Auxiliary Heat Centrale (HWC) will assist. This ensures that the homes (almost) never get left in the cold.
During the tour of the HWC you will get a look behind the scenes. What is such an HWC? What is needed to ensure the heat supply of the homes? What does the installation look like???
