Rondleiding Lucy Havelaarhuis - Tuindorp Vreewijk

During Open Monumentendag Rotterdam, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September, the resident takes you through 'his' Lucy Havelaarhuis and Garden.

This spacious detached house, built in 1918 in Tuindorp Vreewijk, was inhabited during the first twenty years by Miss Lucy Havelaar with some of her employees. In those years she was the director of the Zuidervolkshuis on the Brink. From 1939, Frits Touw lived here - director of the then brand new Zuiderziekenhuis - with his family. The house was even expanded with an extension at the time. The building was completely restored in 2000. In the Cultural Capital Year 2001 it was temporarily a museum home. The surrounding garden was redesigned in 2006. Since 2014, Lucy Havelaarhuis has been a national monument. A unique opportunity to really experience living in Tuindorp Vreewijk.
