About event
As part of the Expanded Horizons series organized by students, we cordially invite you to a discussion with historian Anna Hájková on the topic of queer history of the Holocaust.
Few people know that Anne Frank wrote about queer desire in her diary. It's not a coincidence. The queer history of the Holocaust, i.e. the question of the same-sex desire of the victims of the Holocaust, remained a white space of historical research until recently. The reason for this is the widespread homophobia of both victims and survivors, which has led to the fact that the voices of these people have been largely erased from the archives. Czech-British historian Anna Hájková will present her new book in a discussion with Kryštof Stupka and explain why inclusive history of the Shoah is so important in a time of growing populism.
The lecture will be held on December 9 at 5:00 p.m. auditorium in the FN Motol area.
It will be possible to purchase a book at a discount at the event.
