About event

The exhibition will last until August 30, 2026

Adriana Korkos is a multimedia artist, and her wide-spectrum work, especially exterior and monumental locations, often realized in the form of street-art or land-art, mainly appeals to viewers in Asian and North American territories, where she has been active for a long time, and where she has also experienced significant success. In our Central European area, she is known above all for her chamber painting and sculptural work, which she often presents especially at the exhibitions of the Association of Artists of Slovakia.

Korkos's painting expression is characterized by a very distinctive, brightly colored and shape-stylized language, evoking the world of science fiction and animated films with legible symbolism, revealing her inner world of feelings as an artist, woman, and mother. Surrealist symbolism and morphology and a tendency to geometric stylization of shapes are as close to her as the poetics of the imaginative world and the fragile veil woven from mysterious metaphors with which she covers her impressive compositions.

Her extraordinary stories take place in a mysterious space in which the boundaries between diverse worlds disappear, and we perceive only the infinite distances of space and the depths. oceans and seas. Human and animal creatures emerge from them, fish swim and bizarre objects levitate, each of which lives its own story. Various metaphors and hidden parables, often encoded in the titles of the works, move these stories into new contexts and open the way for the viewer's imagination. The center of Korkos' work is human existence and its endless "interdimensional" forms. In detail and in impressive abbreviations, he explores and interprets on his canvases the relationship between energy and matter, between the transcendent and the immanent, or between the given and the accidental. In this way, she uncovers the invisible network of human memory coordinates and looks for magical ties that connect individuals despite different times, territories and cultures.

Adriana Korkos is an incredibly creative author with a unique fantasy and imagination. In her work, she often reveals unpleasant social or political reality, explores the position of women in contemporary society and the tension between human rights and cultural tradition. In his paintings, he often repeats the themes of silence and sound, resonances and vibrations, which are able to convey memories and shape our understanding of reality. Her universal poetic visual language and contemplative imagery opens the way to the minds and hearts of viewers. And so in his monumental painting solitaires, polyptychs and small formats, he sensitively communicates with monsters from the far reaches of space and with good-looking whales, dives into the depths of the sea and builds an imaginative world according to his own ideas.
