RYBY a RYBÁRI

Did you know that the fishermen's union unites more than 120 thousand fishing members? It is in 2026 that we commemorate the 100th anniversary of organized fishing in Slovakia. Don't miss this important milestone in Banská Bystrica at the attractive historical and zoological exhibition "Fish and Fishermen" in the Tihányiv Castle.

Slovakia has always been rich in smaller and larger watercourses and, gradually, stagnant water. From the point of view of the development of fishing, modern history is characterized mainly by the gradual transition from hunting and breeding fish for sustenance, to the mass expansion of sport fishing as an accessible and very meaningful hobby.
