About event

Camping with Henry and Tom, is a new game by Mark St. Germain, the author of the productions already presented at the Theater in Řeznická - The Last Session with Dr. Freud, Relativity, Scott and Hem and Show Dr. Ruth.

This time it is a meeting of giants from the world of science and industry - Thomas Alva Edison and the pioneer of the automobile industry, Henry Ford. Edison became a world-renowned inventor. His inventions include the light bulb, generator or dynamo. However, many researchers today are beginning to look at the biography of this great man with slightly different eyes. Many of the decisions he made during his life were motivated only by the desire to preserve his own profits. He often showed a lack of compassion, and the authorship of a number of his patents is also disputed. Ford was known for his anti-Semitic views, and Ford's philosophy was that the true America was outside the city, in the countryside, and in its culture. In his eyes, the city was decaying, and for this decay those who brought the decaying jazz music there, late immigrants and "international Jews" who, in his eyes, primarily inhabited cosmopolitan cities, were to blame. In this game, US President Warren Gamaliel Harding, the 29th President of the United States, is seconded brilliantly. Harding, who never wanted to be president, was a newspaper publisher before taking office. In politics, he served first in the Ohio State Senate and later as an aide to the Governor of Ohio.

The play premiered at the author's home theater of the Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 2016 and has since been performed across the United States. The author specializes in fictional meetings of real personalities and is based very carefully on historical facts, events and a detailed study of all the biographical consequences of the given characters. This play is also a sober look at all three giants and full of sarcasm, but first and foremost a unique probe into their souls and a period fresco.
