About event
Reading with music with Thea Harbauer and Marion Schwan (saxophone)
The American poet and Pulitzer Prize winner Mary Oliver (1935-2019) wrote more than 20 volumes of poetry. She lived in Ohio and Massachusetts with her partner Molly Malone Cook. "Her poetry has a lot to do with feeling and compassion, compassion for creatures, but also for ourselves. Many of these poems would be easy to sing at sight." She calls on us to "turn our attention to the uniqueness of our lives, our capacity for perception, wonder and joy. And to stop worrying... That is exactly the miraculous effect of her poems: at some point you start to sing. And to look away from yourself to the morning, the grass, the light. And then a grasshopper will almost certainly appear." (Quotes from Doris Dörrie)
